Short Story Competition 2014

Last updated: 2.14pm, Tuesday 4th February 2014 by

We held our first short story competition last year, as part of our 50th Anniversary celebrations. We were overwhelmed by the level of enthusiasm and the standard of the entries received, and have decided to make it an annual event.

Last year's winner, Erin Lannie, from St Joseph’s Academy in Kilmarnock, wrote an emotional piece about a teenager battling long term illness. Erin won herself a Kindle Fire and a writing workshop from award winning author and competition judge, Lari Don, for her class.

Again this year first year pupils at participating schools are asked to write 500 words on the theme ‘Overcoming’. We’re looking forward to reading them already!

If you are in first year at an Ayrshire school and would like to take part please speak to your English teacher first and for more information contact Sheila McLean on 01563 831428 or email
