Beacon cyber-security incident

12 August, 2026

We have been made aware of a cyber-security incident at Beacon who provide our fundraising CRM system.

While it is not yet clear what data, if any, was exposed by the incident we wanted, out of an abundance of caution, to make our supporters aware that it may include your contact details, elements of your history of support for us and information you’ve shared with us in relation to event planning.  No bank details were stored on the system so there is no risk of their exposure. All fundraising supporters who we hold an email address for have been contacted.

We feel there is very little risk resulting from this incident but you should be vigilant, as always, to the possibility of phishing emails which could try to leverage any data which was exposed.  If you receive emails purporting to be from, or relating to, Hansel and asking for personal information or for you to click on a link please feel free to call us on 01563 830340 to confirm their authenticity.

If you have any questions or concerns about this matter please get in touch, either with our Data Protection Office, Wilma McGill or our Fundraising & Communications Manager, Agnes Paton on 01563 830340.
