Since our origins in 1963 Hansel has been focused on breaking down barriers faced by people with additional support needs, creating inclusive environments, opportunities, and choices to enable people living in Ayrshire to live independent and fulfilling lives.

We are a leading social care provider however, through our unique organisational structure, we are so much more than that, placing innovation and passion at the forefront of delivering real change through a range of services and opportunities for the people we work for.

We do this through our fantastic team of more than 400 team members, whose dedicated approach to care and support creates a safe and positive environment for people to thrive, alongside our partnerships with healthcare agencies, organisations and businesses.

Covid 19 Updates

In one way or another the Covid-19 pandemic has had a profound effect on us all.  We have been forced to adapt the way we live our lives, making necessary sacrifices to try our best to keep the most vulnerable people in our communities and each other safe.  Our Hansel journey through the pandemic has been most challenging at times, however we keep our sights firmly fixed on how we continue to move forward and maximise opportunities for those we support to anticipate more freedoms returning into everyday lives.

Organisation and Governance

The Hansel Group of Charities comprises two companies limited by guarantee, Hansel Foundation and Hansel Alliance.  Both are registered charities, each governed by a volunteer Board of Directors.

All care and support services, including 3e employability programmes and social enterprises, are delivered through Hansel Alliance as the subsidiary operations arm of the Group.  Hansel Foundation provides senior leadership and corporate services functions for all Hansel activities; resources all fundraising and communications activities; and delivers both revenue and capital project initiatives consistent with the strategic direction agreed by its Board of Directors.
