Golfers raise funds for Hansel

16 May, 2024

Fifteen teams of golfers took to the greens of Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club to take part in the 26th Hansel Charity Golf Day on Thursday 2nd May 2024. View highlights from the day here: https://youtu.be/Jj5Ke-EqN2s

The course was in first class condition and everyone had a fantastic round of golf, despite the strong wind. A fundraising auction and prize draw took place after dinner with the event capably hosted by Robert Dykes.

Winning the Friends of Hansel Quaich in first place were the team from Lowmac followed by Smart Working Services in second place and AtkinsRealis in third. Individual prizes went to: Best Individual - Robert Gray (Lowmac); Longest Drive - Mark McHenry; Nearest the Pin (4th) - Brian Raftery and Nearest the Pin (12th) - Derek Walker. The prizes were presented by the Hansel Laundry Supervisor, Pamela Coupland.

We are extremely grateful to everyone who supported the event including our sponsors, hole sponsors, people who donated prizes and of course all the golfers who helped us to raise £5577.91 which will be used to replace an industrial washing machine in our supported business, the Hansel Laundry. Our thanks go to Robert Dykes for hosting the event and to the team at Kilmarnock (Barassie) Golf Club for their assistance and expertise.

The Hansel Laundry is a fully operational commercial laundry which provides a range of competitively priced quality services for Ayrshire businesses and individuals. Not only does the laundry provide a fantastic service, it provides employment to seven people who have a range of additional support needs and are fulfilling their potential whilst making a valuable contribution to the local economy and wider society. The team are delighted to be able to replace their oldest washing machine with the funds raised from the golf day.
