A group of Scottish artists have helped to raise more than £15000 for Hansel.

They donated art works to the ‘Little Paintings Make Hansel Grow’ art exhibition which was held in Lochgreen House Hotel in Troon from Sunday March 3 to Tuesday March 5.

The event, which was sponsored by Costley and Costley Hoteliers Limited, was hugely popular with more than 85 paintings sold, a new record for the annual art show.

Artists exhibiting included included Helen Turner, Alan King, Frank Colclough, Tom Shanks, Graham McKean and Lin Patullo, along with a number of amateur artists. Prices started at £80 rising to £300.

World-famous artist Peter Howson, who has spent the last year battling depression, made an unexpected donation of a new work of art to the exhibition entitled Ecce Homo. It was sold at the event by silent auction for £760.

The quality of paintings we received from the artists this year was absolutely outstanding and there was a real rush when the doors opened from people who had their hearts set on snapping up their favourite pieces of work at the Preview Afternoon, held on Sunday 3rd March 2013.

It was wonderful that so many of the artists came along to support the event and we are very grateful to them for giving us their beautiful paintings which will be treasured for many years.

Little Paintings not only gives people a rare opportunity to pick up an amazing piece of art for much less than they would pay in a gallery but to donate to a good cause at the same time.
