Games on the Green 2014

Last updated: 3.03pm, Wednesday 2nd July 2014 by

What a great day we all had last week at Hansel’s very own Games on the Green and Bands at the Baird.

The day kicked off with the arrival of Hansel’s own Commonwealth baton relay which had completed a 35 mile journey round the Hansel services out in the community and on site. It was then an action packed day with lots going on including a football tournament and a range of free sporting activities including zumba, touch rugby, Mai Thai, tug of war, bean bag race and the egg and spoon.

The West FM Road Show added to the party atmosphere, helped along by the glorious summer sunshine. Hundreds of local people came along to show their support for Hansel and also enjoy the day, which started at 11am and went on until after nine at night.

Bands at the Baird had a special guest as Britain’s Got Talent winner Jai McDowall wowed the crowds with an amazing performance and it was one of the undoubted highlights from the fun-filled day and night. Some of our customers were even lucky enough to get an autograph!

Rough Cut headlined the event at night which also included sets from international star Scott Nicol, Hansel Fundraising’s own Debbie Campbell with her friend Andy and Hansel’s own Hugh Clinton.

Sarah Rooney, our Learning and Development Co-ordinator and one of the organisers behind the event said: “The whole day was fantastic, the support from our customers and our teams really made it all come together! It was brilliant to see our customers enjoying themselves so much especially alongside so many local people.”

Our thanks to everyone who helped organise the day and the many people who supported it including our customers, our team members, West FM, the stall holders and our sponsors Sainsbury’s.

It was certainly a day and night that we will never forget! (More photos to follow)
