Doors Open Days

We had a fabulous turn out for Doors Open Days on the 7th and 8th of September.

Over the two days more than a hundred and fifty people came to Broadmeadows to see inside Murdoch House, an outstanding example of English Manorial architecture with a wealth of Arts & Crafts embellishments, and the Baird Centre, a new build with an outstanding level of accessibility and a wealth environmentally friendly features.

The Baird Centre, which will be opening soon, will offer a wide range of activities to a wide range of people. Highlights include horticultural therapy, a dementia friendly lounge and a recording studio. The Baird Centre will be a community resource for the people of Ayrshire and includes a PAMIS Changing Places toilet - a real boon for people living with disabilities and their carers.

What was really pleasing about Doors open Days was that our visitors were not just interested in the buildings but also in Hansel. Our thanks to the staff who gave their time to show people around and share their enthusiasm for the site and the organisation. Our thanks also to the organisers of Doors Open Days Ayrshire, Kyle & Carrick Civic Society, whose promotion of the event lent much to its success. And of course our thanks to those who visited - it was great to meet you and we hope you'll keep in touch!

If you didn't manage along and would like to find out more, please contact us and we'll be happy to oblige.
