Salary: £10.90 per hour (£11.02 per hour from 1st Dec)
Service: Carrick Street (Hansel Supported Living Service)

Location: Carrick Street, Ayr, KA7 1QJ

We are excited to announce that we’re recruiting for a new supported living housing development in Carrick Street, Ayr.  We are looking for energetic, creative, caring and compassionate people to join the team.

Carrick Street is a brand-new mainstream housing complex based within Ayr town centre across from The Gaiety Theatre. As part of a core and cluster support model, the support team will provide a 24-hour supported living service to individuals with additional support needs to live in their own tenancy and experience choice, control and freedom in their daily lives and to be recognised and valued contributors within their local community.

We work together to ensure that the people we support are at the centre of all our efforts and their choices and views are respected. The service will work in partnership with the individuals we support, parents and families, and health and social work partners and neighbours to promote the most secure and nurturing environment possible.  Our focus is on providing great supports that enable positive outcomes and opportunities for each person, now and in their future.

Working from a designated hub, daily supports focus on meeting all the health and social care needs of every person, reflecting their lifestyle aspirations. Individual packages of support can range from one hour to 24 hours per day.

This is a great opportunity to be involved in our new initiative from the start, helping the new Carrick Street tenants start their journey settling in to their brand-new homes and building great community lives.

We have a number of posts available with different shift patterns, but most roles require some weekend and evening work.  Some roles may require sleepovers and waking nights.  We carefully match all team members to particular individuals we support depending on their skills, experience, knowledge, availability and interests.

Essential criteria for the post include:

  • Candidates must be 18 years old or over for insurance purposes
  • Excellent people skills
  • Flexibility to work a needs-led rota
  • Good team working, problem solving and communication skills
  • The ability to support people in a person-centred way to offer choice and promote inclusion.
  • An enthusiastic attitude to developing skills in Social Care
  • The ability to accept peoples’ differences and treat everyone as equals
  • The ability to attain registration with regulatory bodies
  • Basic IT skills

Experience in delivering formal social care supports or personal caring experience is desirable but not essential.

When you join our HSLS team you will also;

  • Receive full induction training, shadowing experienced fellow workers and access to additional training you may need to enable you to confidently support individuals.
  • Have an opportunity to gain a relevant SVQ qualification in Health and Social Care.
  • Access to 24-hour on call management support when you need it.
  • Work various shift patterns with at least one weekend off in every three.
  • Receive pay for your travel time and travel expenses if travelling between supports.
  • Become involved in an inclusive & vibrant ‘Tenants Aloud’ group, which gives the people we support the opportunity to meet regularly and have a say in how our services are delivered. Tenant’s Aloud also offers an annual calendar of social events, parties, holidays, day trips; promoting friendships and relationships to be developed and maintained though shared interest and experiences.

If you feel you have the passion, skills and values to be successful in this role then apply now!

These posts are considered to be Regulated Work with Adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Record Update if already a Scheme member prior to any formal offer of employment being made.

Hansel is an equal opportunities employer and we welcome applications from all who believe they fit the essential requirements for the job.
