The Cabin Respite Service is a homely bungalow with 7 single bedrooms, providing a service for 7 visitors each week. Also within the Broadmeadows estate is our woodland caravan park which provides an alternative short breaks experience. Each of our visitors have a wide range of needs and expectations.

We are now recruiting for sessional Support Workers to join our dedicated and friendly staff team, who support the health care needs of our customers as well as supporting them to enjoy their break in a way which reflects their individual choices, interests, wishes and aspirations.

This is a great opportunity for experienced Support Workers looking to take on a new challenge, those who have recently left college with a Social Care related qualification or those who perhaps have no practical or academic experience but can evidence that their values match those of the organisation and that they are motivated to work flexibly, supporting our customers in their lives.  

The flexibility to work a rota that includes days, evenings, nights, sleepovers (£12 per hour) and weekends is essential in all the roles. Shift patterns are early shifts 7am - 3pm, back shifts 2pm - 10pm and night shifts 10pm -8am.

Other essential criteria for the all posts include:

  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic IT skills
  • Excellent people skills, good team worker and problem solver
  • An enthusiastic attitude to developing skills in Social Care
  • The ability to accept peoples’ differences and treat everyone as equals
  • The ability to support people in a person-centred way to offer choice and promote inclusion.

These posts are considered to be Regulated Work with Adults as specified in the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) (PVG) Act 2007. Accordingly, the preferred candidate will be required to become a member of the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme Record Update if already a Scheme member prior to any formal offer of employment being made.
