Community Superhero Award Winner

Last updated: 2.26pm, Thursday 9th June 2016 by

We are pleased to announce that Prestwick's very own Scott Nicol won the very first Community Superhero Award 2016.

Scott Nicol is a local passionate pop/rock/Americana singer, songwriter, composer and energetic entertainer. He works tirelessly in the local community through his passion and performance of music.

Scott has helped a lot of people, young and old, and actively encourages them to build on their confidence within themselves as he works on various projects, either through his music or in The New Life Church in Prestwick.

Scott is always eager to help and nothing is too much trouble for him. Our customers have enjoyed listening to Scott play at the numerous events that he has done for Hansel, on-site or at external fundraisers, most recently busking in-store at Sainsburys, Prestwick!

The joy he brings to people through his music and his very likeable personality made him stand out as Hansel's Superhero!

And as if that wasn't enough he still finds time to run his own music business, Possibility Screams, which continues to flourish. He teaches guitar and song-writing and has a real passion to raise up the next generation of artists and pass on his experience.

One of his pupils is Lori Smith, an amazing 11 year-old with a really mature sound that belies her age. They both co-wrote and recorded the song “I Want to Come Home” which is currently available on iTunes.

Currently he has two residencies where he runs open-mic nights as well as doing some original material and covers by a selection of well-known artists!! He spent a good part of the year and the beginning of 2016 working with up-and-coming Ayrshire artist Chloé Marie. Together they wrote 5 songs that can be found on her debut EP, Changing. Scott also runs free song writing courses so if you feel you are a budding star, what are you waiting for!

Scott won a £100 Hi Street voucher and a Taste The Difference Hamper from Hansel's Charity Partner, Sainsburys, Prestwick.

A huge thank you to all entrants. It was a very tough decision as there were many worthy winners.
