It was sunshine and smiles all day long at the recent annual Hansel Race Day at Ayr Racecourse, which raised over £21,000 for the charity.
Supporters of the charity donned their finery for one of the highlights of the social season, enjoying quality performances from the horses and riders and temperatures in the 20s.
More than 180 people attended the event which included a champagne reception overlooking the race-course and a delicious four course lunch at the Chancellor Restaurant in the Princess Royal Stand.
One of the undoubted highlights of the event was the charity auction and raffle with a Grand Prize Draw for a weekend break for two at The Hilton in Milan, with the runner up winning a two night stay at The Hilton Coylumbridge.
Other prizes included: two hospitality tickets for The Scottish Open donated by Aberdeen Standard Investments; a Home Cinema Experience donated by Lairds of Troon; two VIP tickets to Justin Timberlake donated by The QTS Group; “Swan Ballerina” an original painting by JP McLaughlin and a Paint and Prosecco session for up to 10 people donated by The Little Art School.
Sheila McLean, Hansel Fundraising Manager, said: “We say this every year but it really was one of the best events yet – having good weather made it such an amazing experience and everyone had a fantastic time.
“I would like to thank all of our wonderful guests, the staff at the race-course and all of our supporters who donated so many incredibly generous prizes.”
Following the races, guests were treated to afternoon tea and danced the night away to Racecourse favourite Highway who took to the stage in the Horseshoe Bar in the Club Stand.
