Hansel at Taigh Mor

Last updated: 10.54am, Monday 8th April 2013 by

We have been delivering flexible respite supports at Taigh Mor in Beith for North Ayrshire Council for just over 6 months now and celebrated with an Open Day on the 4th of April.

People relying on the service at Taigh Mor had experienced a lot of change before Hansel was awarded the contract last year. There is now a stronger partnership between respite guests and families, Hansel, North Ayrshire Council’s Social Work Services and NHS Services.

The hard work and enthusiasm of Julie Coyle (Service Manager), with the support of Lauren Nevins (Assistant Manager) and the Hansel at Taigh Mor team, have made a real and positive difference. The environment has been greatly improved and the team has been re-structured with a renewed focus on best practice allowing guests to enjoy much more flexible and personalised short breaks.

Colin Kilbride, Hansel’s Respite and Short Breaks Service Manager, who has been mentoring and coaching the Taigh Mor team over the last 6 months, said "Congratulations to all of the team, particularly Julie and Lauren who have just completed their probationary period. They have been key in transforming this service over the past six months."

Guests and their families are happier with the service provided now and left comments including:
"I really enjoyed my visit"
"It was great"
"I felt involved and had fun"
"John is always happy when at Taigh Mor, and loves the company of the staff"
"...a wonderful holiday and can't wait to come back"
"We're absolutely delighted with Natalie's visit - she looked healthier, and was in a great mood when she returned home."
